Michel Puy (1878-1960) was a poet, essayist, art critic, literary critic, and magazine director.<\/strong> He moved within Parisian intellectual and artistic circles, engaging with the journals that accompanied new creative trends. In 1907, in the journal La Phalange<\/em>, he published a study dedicated to the Fauves. He was one of the first to understand that the research of painters like Henri Matisse and his close associates, including his elder brother, did not constitute a mere succession of individual audacities, but rather manifested the emergence of a new aesthetic.<\/strong> <\/p>\n
