Since 2017, CEDEA (European Confederation of Art Experts), founded in 1988 and comprising over 600 experts, has awarded the David de l’Expertise prize, an award initiated by old master painting expert and journalist Armelle Baron. For this 5th year, the David awards were presented on September 19, 2023, at the Fondation Dosne-Thiers Institut de France, notably to Jean David Jumeau-Lafond

for his remarkable, richly documented and illustrated work “Martine de Behague. An Aesthete of the Belle Époque” published by Flammarion. The author, with great talent, evokes the extraordinary personality of Martine-Marie-Pol de Béhague, Countess of Béarn (1870-1939), a patron and discerning collector whose acquisitions hang in the world’s greatest museums.
The two other prizes were awarded to a remarkable figure in the art world, Jérôme Clément, founder of Arte, writer, and former president of the PIASA auction house who, in 2016, directed the Normandie Impressionniste exhibition, and to the attractive Château de Vendeuvre site, an 18th-century residence located in Calvados, still occupied by the descendants of Alexandre de Vendeuvre.
