THE WORK *

The result of ten years of work dedicated to the emblematic 19th-century painter and symbol of Romanticism, this exemplary work, authored by Virginie Cauchi-Fatiga, not only allows for
an understanding of the interactions between an artist, his critics, and his era, but also measures the full scope of a man’s influence on the art of his time.

By compiling and analyzing the entirety of art literature produced on Eugène Delacroix between 1822 and 1885, the author re-establishes the artist as an individual
intertwined within a network of artistic, political, journalistic, and cultural connections.
