The author Xavier MATHIEU is pleased to announce the upcoming publication of his monographic work, a remarkable 600-page compilation of research and documentation, tracing the life and work of the genius painter, particularly in portraiture, Antonio de la Gandara.
Our colleague, a member of The Society for the History of French Art, has undertaken and successfully completed an enormous work of remembrance on his ancestor, which is revealed in this Catalogue Raisonné.
The work extends a biography published in 2011.
The 800 works identified to date by Xavier Mathieu are reproduced in this publication, managed by Les Éditions Monelle Hayot/
This extensively illustrated color Catalogue Raisonné is prefaced by Jean-David Jumeau-Lafond, our colleague in the specialty “Carlos Schwab and Symbolism.”
