The Expert
Christophe Hameline is an expert in real estate and decorative elements for historic buildings. Facades, fireplaces, woodwork, parquet flooring, stoves, stone and terracotta, wrought iron, ornamental elements from the 17th and 18th centuries, and all high-period decoration from the great builders are among the elements that the expert appraises, inventories, and researches for the purposes of classification or declassification—Historical Monuments or supplementary inventory (MH or ISMH)—during sales and successions. Since their creation in 1994, he has presided over the Caractère real estate agencies, active not only in the Marais district of Paris, in the Hôtel de Maintenon, a stone's throw from the Place des Vosges, but also in the Paris region and the provinces. For nearly twenty-five years, Caractère has proven to be unique in its field and Christophe Hameline, a key player in the Parisian real estate market. Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters, he was a director of the Société des Amis du Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature from 2003 to 2016 and a member of the Amis du Domaine de Chambord. At the request of Pierre Aidenbaum, Mayor of the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, he was appointed to the commission responsible for the safeguarding and enhancement plan for the Marais district. Originally, nothing destined him for a career in real estate other than his love for old stone and Art in general. From his years spent in the United States, he has maintained three fundamental elements that guide his practice and expert eye: rigor, listening, and precision in commercial relations; Christophe Hameline transmits these fundamentals to all his collaborators. A taste for Beauty, a sense of listening, and a passion for Art necessarily involve the Built Environment, that monumental witness to great History. The expert's eye and experience are therefore there to guide the future owner toward the ideal completion of a sale or purchase, and to assist institutions in best preparing their files and appeals.Bibliography
