Victoire de Latour

A specialist expert on Jean-Jacques Henner (1829-1905) and co-author of the Catalogue Raisonné, Victoire de Latour authenticates the artist’s paintings and drawings submitted to her.

Victoire de Latour began working on Jean-Jacques Henner in 2016, assisting the curator of the national museum dedicated to him (43, avenue de Villiers, Paris 17^th). She is deeply committed to defending the painted and drawn works of Jean-Jacques Henner through her appraisals and the writing of the Catalogue Raisonné, in collaboration with Isabelle de Lannoy. She also contributes to books, exhibitions, and conferences regarding the artist.

Victoire de Latour updates the entries for the first two volumes of the Catalogue Raisonné and identifies new appearances on the art market and in public and private collections to discover works that might otherwise remain unknown. Furthermore, she issues certificates of authenticity for works that can be included in the Catalogue Raisonné.

Her training as an art collection manager (Master 2 at the Université Jean-Jaurès in Toulouse) provides her with a methodical approach and rigorous handling, which are essential for the examination of artworks, paintings, and drawings.

It was in 2016 that Victoire de Latour discovered the work of Jean-Jacques Henner and the museum dedicated to him — at 43, avenue de Villiers, in the 17^th arrondissement of Paris — during her Master’s research and two internships alongside the museum’s curator.

She collaborated on the exhibition-dossier “The Literary Inspiration of Jean-Jacques Henner” (2017), and on the exhibition “Roux! From Jean-Jacques Henner to Sonia Rykiel” (2019).
