Antiquity begins with writing in Mesopotamia 3,500 years BC. It is the period of the first great civilizations of the Mediterranean basin.
This first encompasses Egyptian and Greek High Antiquity from the 4th millennium to the 8th century BC, until 753 BC, the date of Rome's founding, then Classical Antiquity from the 8th century BC to the 3rd century AD in Persia, Greece, and Rome, and finally Late Antiquity until the fall of the Roman Empire in AD 476.
One is surprised to discover that antiquities dating back thousands of years can be acquired at a very modest price; millions of ancient objects have entered and exited collections on the market for centuries.
Our experts will be able to inform enthusiasts on this matter.
