Regional Art connects an artistic practice to a specific territory (the region). For example, we refer to Breton, Provençal, or Lorraine art. Regional Art often asserts an identity, a specific culture, and a rich heritage. It readily embraces the original meaning of the Latin Ars: skill, craft, technical knowledge, talent. It thus includes the productions of art crafts and celebrates the expertise of artisans, the most skilled of whom become artists. Beyond classical artistic expressions (painting, drawing, sculpture, architecture, etc.), regional arts often feature everyday objects such as furniture or tableware.
