The Expert
René Lalique's descendants preserve the originality of their ancestor's work, and although the original plans and precise descriptions of the manufacturing methods remain in their possession, they refrain from relaunching production. Collectors and enthusiasts are therefore obliged to turn to antique dealers and experts, who are veritable living memories, to satisfy their curiosity and acquire objects that their vulnerability—glass breaks so easily—has made rare. Since the revival of Lalique following the 1991 retrospective in Paris, Michel-Ange Philippe has dedicated himself to building collections of René Lalique's works throughout the world and has participated in most of the traveling exhibitions and retrospectives in his honor.
