Street art is found everywhere in our cities, catching our eye at every turn. Sneakers belong to the streets as much as to sports, worn by both the unknown and famous champions.
The art market invites them to the table, much to the delight of specialists in this vibrant, colorful, and international contemporary culture.
The emergence of sneakers in our societies at the end of the 19th century and the way they established themselves on our feet during the 20th century speaks volumes about the changes and evolution of our way of life.
Because they break the rules and invite us to rethink our relationship with luxury, sport, style, and comfort, sneakers are a fascinating subject of study.
Today, they tread the streets of the entire world, pace across musical stages, and even walk the runways of major fashion houses. Having broken free from the stadiums where they made their debut, sneakers were even elevated to the status of a work of art by the street artist Invader in 2003.
Space Invader proved that sneakers can be a medium of expression in their own right. Is this marriage between art and sneakers
not a sign that they have a bright future as collectibles?
