The expert Léonore de Magnée is an expert in Asian arts, covering regions from the Himalayas to Vietnam, including China, Korea, and Japan. She specializes in the arts of China and Japan (bronzes, ceramics, lacquers, cloisonné enamels, paintings, prints, etc.), with a particular focus on Chinese ceramics (from the Song dynasty to the Qing dynasty 960-1911) and Japanese netsuke. During her studies in Chinese (Master's degree from Inalco) and Art History (École du Louvre and Paris IV Sorbonne), Léonore de Magnée acquired a solid knowledge of Asian arts, which she further developed through professional experience within various auction houses (including Sotheby’s Paris and Hong Kong). While in charge of Asian art at the Paris office of the Bonhams auction house, she continued to build her expertise by working on major sales of Chinese, Japanese, and Himalayan art. Now independent, her career path has provided her with extensive experience in the specificities of the Asian art market, a subject she teaches at IESA in Paris. Léonore de Magnée carries out appraisals and inventories for private individuals, auction houses, and various institutions, such as the Collège de France and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, with rigor, integrity, and discretion. She is also a member of the French Society for the Study of Oriental Ceramics (SFECO), the Franco-Japanese Association (AFJ), the International Netsuke Society (INS), etc.
