The Expert

Didier Krzentowski is an expert in Design and Contemporary Art at UFE and Assessor for the Customs Conciliation and Expertise Commission. He was first associated with Jean-Claude Killy within the family ski clothing company KILLY—world leader in this field—for nearly fifteen years. A passionate collector of contemporary art and design, he founded the kreo agency with his wife Clémence in 1992, then Galerie Kreo in 1999. Recognized as one of the most important and influential design galleries today, it opened in 1999 in the 13th arrondissement of Paris at the heart of "Louise Weiss" street, which at the time represented a hub of young contemporary art galleries; it focuses on the production and promotion of new pieces in collaboration with world-renowned designers. Now located in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, it produces and exhibits pieces by the greatest contemporary designers, including Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Pierre Charpin, Naoto Fukasawa, Jaime Hayon, Konstantin Grcic, Hella Jongerius, Alessandro Mendini, Jasper Morrison, Marc Newson, Martin Szekely, Studio Wieki Somers, etc. It functions as a research laboratory, a free space for creation and experimentation by designers. It ensures the production of this research, exhibits and sells the pieces resulting from this work. This field of expertise is one of Didier Krzentowski's passions, who has been collecting lighting fixtures for nearly thirty years. The book published by JRP Ringier Editions on his collection "The Complete Designers Lights" is considered a reference in the field. Didier Krzentowski regularly participates in setting up exhibitions within international institutions as well as for various lectures given at the Indianapolis Museum, MAMC in Saint-Étienne, Museum of Fine Arts in Geneva, École des Arts Décoratifs or La Cambre arts visuels in Brussels... In 2012, he became a member of the Scientific Committee for the advanced diploma in Applied Arts—Design specialty—of the National Education system. He serves as a jury member for school diplomas, including the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and ECAL in Lausanne, and for numerous awards: Grand Prix du Design de la Ville de Paris, Prix du Créateur de l'année for the Paris Furniture Fair, Grand Prix de Design "Design Prys" of the Boijmans Museum in Rotterdam, Grand Prix de design "Design Parade" of Villa Noailles in Hyères... as well as the Liliane Bettencourt Prize for the Intelligence of the Hand.
