🇭đŸ‡ș Celebrating the legacy of Victor Vasarely in Budapest in 2026 will mark the 120th anniversary of the artist’s birth.
“What a pleasure to have met the Hungarian public again at the French Institute in Budapest for a moment rich in emotion and sharing,” Pierre Vasarely wrote on LinkedIn on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, as he signed his expanded book, published in Hungarian.
📖 “Vasarely, a saga through the century” (Vasarely regĂ©nyes Ă©vszĂĄzada), published by Prae Editions.
The event, hosted alongside Ádám BƑsze, Hungarian presenter and writer, gave him the opportunity to look back on the visionary journey of the man who revolutionised 20th-century art and to reaffirm the importance of his Hungarian roots in his universal work.
“A big thank you to the French Institute in Budapest for its welcome, to Prae Editions, and to everyone present for this signing and these passionate exchanges,” adds Pierre Vasarely, whom we all congratulate—those of us at the UFE, his colleagues and friends.

In addition, a highly anticipated retrospective exhibition of Victor Vasarely’s work will be held at the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest from May 15 to August 16. Works from the collections of the Vasarely Museums in Budapest and PĂ©cs, and of course from the Vasarely Foundation in Aix-en-Provence—works never before seen in Hungary—will offer a comprehensive view of Victor Vasarely’s art. The UFE pays tribute to the deeply committed, steadfast and passionate work carried out by Pierre Vasarely, in tandem for several years with his son Ugo, in defence of the visibility and renown of the great visionary, avant-garde artist who was his grandfather—and who remains—Victor Vasarely.
