In 1900, the United States, France, and Germany produced 10,000 cars; eight years later, Henry Ford mass-produced millions of Model T cars on an assembly line. The number of motor cars grew exponentially; the automobile revolutionized transport and necessitated new civic and social rules. Ferdinand Porsche, André Citroën, Louis Renault, René Panhard and Emile Levassor, Gustav and Carl Rapp, Giovanni Agnelli, Carl Benz, Louis Chevrolet, David Austin, William Lyons, and William Wamsley are among the pioneers of the art of automobile manufacturing; their successors continue to improve them aesthetically and technically, but older models remain highly sought-after and well-maintained icons. They have marked automotive history through racing achievements, spectacular designs, or major innovations: the Mercedes 300 SL, the Ferrari 250 GTO which sold for 38 million dollars in 2014, the Ford GT40 which is probably the most legendary model in Ford's history, the Porsche 911 which dominated in competition everywhere, the very rare Bugatti Atlantic, the Jaguar E-Type considered the most beautiful car in the world by Enzo Ferrari, and the Citroën DS with its hydropneumatic suspension. The world of automobiles is so complex that it refers precisely to the official valuation catalog. The expert valuation of a collector vehicle is mandatory to enable its insurance. The benefit is better compensation in the event of a claim (especially against theft and fire). The other benefit is knowing the actual market value of the classic car when purchasing and reselling it, and verifying its true condition.
